I often look at products and wonder if there isn't a better way. As a designer I consider things like kitchen design, with the classic upper cabinets over lower cabinets and question if it truly is the best balance between form and function or simply how it's always been done.
With water conservation front of mind this design by London's Royal College of Art student, Simin Qiu, offers the perfect balance. The design won the iF Design concept award in 2014 and features a single touch button for a sleek outer look and a brilliant internal double turbine creates a swirling water effect.
The turbines swirl as water passes through them creating the most beautiful lattice in the pouring stream. The best part is this method also limits water flow by 15% yet maintains the same pressure.
