I met with my custom drapery supplier today.  I'd given them some homework.  I wanted a cross section of standard fabrics from casual to formal silk with varying styles, custom lengths and competitive pricing to retailers.

They did their homework and I gave them a gold star.  I'm continually surprised during this process at how simple it is to give people what they want.  I hate buying panels at a retail store and having to live with the length, or not having a great selection of colours or if I want the silk it has to come as a pinch pleat versus a pocket top - you get the idea.  So I asked them to price for me standard panel widths, with an option of any style top and custom made to length.  I'm actually shocked at how affordable they are.  The pricing is far less than say Pottery Barn and these are custom!  They are also fully lined and if you are choosing a silk they are lined and interlined.  If you know your window coverings you know that the lining is what takes them from looking store bought to that rich custom drape.  All this is actually included in the panel cost. WOW.

I also asked to give me a starting price for Roman blinds, roller shades, black out shades, and black out lining as an option on drapery panels.  I got it!  The beauty of this whole thing is that anything is possible.  You can even do motorized or double length for those pesky two storey condos.   I will offer standard selections that will always be available at a custom length and style at no additional cost, but let's say you want to add a trim or shake things up with a 2' band of coordinating fabric at the bottom to add interest - no problem, I will have the drapery manufactures contact you and I can always give you some advice if you need it during the process with them. All this information will be placed in your project binder for you to refer to anytime you need it.  I'll tell you more about your binder soon!

They are also pricing out throw cushions to match and coordinate in standard sizes but these again can be done custom if need be.  They can also suggest appropriate hardware for your drapery and even install if you need it.

I love making life easier - and better looking!
